Tips for a Smooth Camper Van Rental Experience

Map Out Your Journey

Planning your route ahead of time makes your trip stress-free and enjoyable. Knowing where to park for the night, refuel, or grab supplies helps you avoid last-minute decisions. Explore cozy campsites near Yellowstone, enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Pacific Northwest, or discover the stunning beaches of Maui, Hawaii. A little planning goes a long way in creating unforgettable adventures.

Prioritize Safety

Before hitting the road, check the van’s basics—brakes, fuel, tires, and the backup camera. Make sure to pack an emergency kit with essentials like water, tools, and a flashlight. A quick safety check helps ensure your trip goes smoothly.

Pack Smart

Keep things simple and organized by packing only the essentials. Bring a sleeping bag, cooking gear, comfortable clothes for all weather, and toiletries. Include extras like a propane stove, camping chairs, and your favorite snacks for a little added comfort.

Familiarize Yourself with the Van

Spend a few minutes learning how the camper van works. Get to know features like the water system, refrigerator, and air conditioning. Understanding how to use the amenities makes your trip easier and lets you focus on the adventure.

With these tips, you’ll be ready to enjoy a relaxing and memorable camper van experience. Happy travels!

Why Renting a Camper Van is the Better Choice

Adventure Without the Big Costs

Owning a camper van can be expensive. With renting, you skip costs like insurance, maintenance, and storage. You only pay for what you use, making it a more budget-friendly option for your road trips.

Flexibility to Fit Your Needs

Not sure if the camper van lifestyle is for you? Renting lets you try it out first. Plan your trip, explore in comfort, and see if this way of traveling works for you—all without a long-term commitment.

No Worries About Repairs or Upkeep

When you rent, someone else takes care of the van’s maintenance. You get a well-prepped vehicle that’s ready to hit the road, so you can focus on enjoying your trip instead of dealing with upkeep.

Renting a camper van is simple, flexible, and perfect for travelers who want freedom and adventure without the extra responsibilities of ownership. It’s an easy way to explore!

How to Book Your Mercedes Sprinter Camper Van

Choose a Reliable Rental Company

Start by finding a rental company with positive reviews and clear pricing. Ensure the campervans are well-maintained and include must-have features like air conditioning, a backup camera, and a fully equipped kitchen. Check if extras like insurance, solar panels, or camping gear are available to make your trip more convenient.

Compare Options and Prices

Take the time to review different rental packages. Some may include unlimited mileage or added perks like a stocked bathroom or portable electricity options. Compare these to find the best deal for your budget and trip needs. Don’t forget to consider the size and roof type of the van if you need extra storage or sleeping space.

Book Your Van in a Few Easy Steps

Once you’ve found the perfect van, confirm your travel dates and go over the rental agreement carefully. Pay attention to important details like mileage limits, deposit requirements, and fuel policies. Secure your booking with a credit card or deposit payment and keep a copy of the agreement for reference.

Learn About Your Campervan Before Hitting the Road

When picking up the van, ask for a quick walkthrough. Learn how to use features like the water system, stove, electricity hookups, and bathroom facilities. Check the fuel type, tire condition, and any tools provided so you’re prepared for a smooth trip.

Plan Your Route and Pack Smart

Finalize your travel plans, including stops and campsites. Book popular locations early, especially if you’re heading to scenic spots. Pack essentials like sleeping bags, cooking gear, and personal items to keep your adventure hassle-free. Double-check your plans to ensure everything is in place.

With these simple steps, renting a Sprinter van camper is easy and stress-free.

Final Checklist for Your Adventure

Gather Important Items

Pack essentials like your driver’s license, rental agreement, and insurance papers. Bring a map or download offline navigation apps for areas without cell service. Don’t forget a flashlight, first-aid kit, basic tools, and a credit card for fuel and supplies.

Check Your Supplies

Go over your packing list carefully. Bring cooking gear, a sleeping bag, weather-appropriate clothes, and toiletries. Check that the van’s fuel, propane, and water levels are topped off. Make sure the stove, refrigerator, and shower are working properly.

Review Your Route

Double-check your travel plans. Confirm campsite reservations and note fuel stops and grocery stores along the way. If you’re heading to remote areas, prepare for limited services.

Pack for Comfort and Fun

Include small extras like a camera, snacks, and blankets. If you enjoy outdoor activities, pack hiking gear or games for downtime. Little comforts can make the trip even more enjoyable.

Get to Know the Van

Spend a few minutes learning how to use the camper van’s features. Test the water system, propane tank, and backup camera. Familiarizing yourself with the van saves time and avoids surprises later.

Stay Safe and Flexible

Check the weather forecast and pack for different conditions. Keep a charged phone and a power bank. Let someone know your travel plans, especially for remote destinations.

With these steps, you’re ready for a smooth, fun, and safe camper van adventure.

Nightly rate is usually the first number people look at when comparing camper van rentals — but it's rarely the only number that matters. Here's the full, verified breakdown of what a Mana Vans Hawaii rental actually costs, what's refundable, and what the cancellation policy looks like. Nightly Rates Each van in our fleet — Karma, Nalu, Bali, and Lotus — is currently listed at $189 per night. Rates can range from $69 to $299 per night depending on season, mileage package, and demand, so it's worth checking current availability for your exact dates on our pricing page . Discounts for Longer Trips and Early Booking Trip length and how far in advance you book both work in your favor. Week-long rentals get roughly 10% off the nightly rate, and month-long rentals get roughly 12% off. If you're planning far ahead, booking six months or more before your trip can get you up to 20% off — the single biggest discount available, and one a lot of renters don't realize exists until they ask. Security Deposit & Prep Fee Every van rental includes a $1,200 refundable security deposit and a $239 prep fee. The prep fee isn't a junk charge — it covers a full detail of the van inside and out, cleaning the linens, and topping off the water storage and other fluids before you pick it up. The security deposit is refunded as long as the van comes back in the condition it left in; it's not part of the nightly rate you see advertised, so it's worth budgeting for separately when you're planning your trip cost. Cancellation & Refund Policy This is the part worth reading before you book, not after. You can cancel within 48 hours of booking for a full refund, as long as at least 14 days remain before departure. After that 48-hour window, refunds scale down based on how close you are to your trip: 60% back if you cancel 30 or more days before arrival, 25% back if you cancel 14–29 days out, and no refund at all if you cancel within 14 days of arrival — plus a $150 cancellation fee on top. A couple of details worth knowing: the service fee, and the tax charged on it, are never refundable regardless of when you cancel. Insurance and other taxes are refundable. And if there's still a balance owed on your booking at the time you cancel, that remainder is due — canceling doesn't erase what's already owed on the total. If your plans might still be in flux, it's worth booking with that 48-hour window in mind, or calling to talk through your specific dates before you commit. Early Pick-Up, Late Drop-Off & Other Add-Ons If your flight schedule doesn't line up neatly with a standard pick-up or drop-off time, early pick-up or late drop-off is available for $50 each, upon request and confirmed in advance — this isn't guaranteed on demand, so it's best to ask when you book rather than the day of. Airport pick-up or drop-off runs $25 each way, and if you're planning to snorkel, gear is available at $30 per adult and $20 per child. Putting It All Together For a one-week trip in one van at the current $189/night rate, a rough budget looks like: nightly rate (with the ~10% weekly discount applied), plus the $239 prep fee, plus the $1,200 refundable deposit set aside separately, plus any add-ons you choose. The deposit comes back after the trip, so it's not money you actually spend — but it does need to be available on your card when you pick up the van. Ready to Get a Quote? Call (808) 289-3359 and we'll walk you through pricing, the deposit, and the cancellation window for your specific dates and van — or take a look at our Our Vans page to compare Karma, Nalu, Bali, and Lotus before you book.
